Whitney's UT Summer Games

Whitney and I dreaded the drive to the Utah Summer Games this year. It was required that Whitney attend as part of her gymnastics team. She competed at the Gold level. We were lucky in a numbers of ways. A gymnastic and her mother wanted to carpool together and that provided entertaining conversation. When we arrived we discovered there were only 10 other gymnastics besides nearly all of the Patterson Soft Landing crew of which we are a part; consequently, we were not going to have a long meet. We were expecting to arrive home around 1:30AM. Instead we arrived home at 11:30PM.  Much better.

Whitney performed well and received a 36.42
and a silver all around.

Rock the Block 5K

Daniel, Ty M., and I biked while Shannon ran the Rocky Mountain Elementary 5K.

He's a Lucky Duck

"Holy Moly!" Napoleon and Pedro would've never thought of an answer like this. Last night Mark had a surprise Prom answer from Elise.

Ouch!

Shannon was attending a track meet at West Lake High School yesterday when the temperature was 45F with gusty winds. She and several guys were in the bull pen trying to keep warm in a blanket Shannon had brought while they all waited to run the 800m. One more guy wanted to get into the human verital burrito and boooom--the burrito fell over. There was a boulder placed in the bullpen which had been a good wind block, but it didn't connect well with Shannon's head. Her arms were pinned inside the blanket burrito. Everyone else hit the grass.

Three head staples later Shannon is at school the next day and we're watching her for any signs of concussion. Humm, last week Shannon sprained her ankle.  Shannon can't run track because of her head staples and head injury.

Prom-Tation

Prom invitations are pretty fun here in Utah County.  Mark finally decided on a very traditional "creative" method to ask Elise to PGHS's prom in May.

He would "build" her a cake--get the Napoleon Dynamite reference; rather, his mom would build a cake.

Mark also promised to catch Elise a "delicious" bass if she said yes. He and his friends have been fishing frequently. He's caught one very small lake trout at Tibblefork Resevoir.
WE SHALL SEE IF SHE SAYS "YES."

Too Cute for the Bird

I'm removing the slide shows in several posts near the beginning of my blog and I came across a darling photo of Whitney on my computer. I don't think it's ever been published blog or scrapbook-wise.  She's just too cute. Aunt Rosanne will probably not remember that Whitney even practiced violin for a short while:)

Two Weeks Later--SNOW--and Ludwig Gets Groomed

This lovely German angora probably doesn't need to wear this much fiber to get through our balmy Utah County winter.

I'm glad it did finally snow because I've been cross country skiing in the dirt hill area. I've tamped out my  trails and am having a blast. I think I've saved about $100 in ski pass fees at Sundance.

Snowy Day Walk

Daniel, Hazel and I enjoyed the sun reflecting off the new snow.  There were lots of things to discover in and around it.
